Christ College in Cambridge is a private school with over 1200 pupils in years 7 to 13. The school prides itself on the use of ICT to facilitate learning but felt it was failing behind with technological advancements, particularily for a school network and internet access. They undertook a review of the possible options but soon realised that the cost of cabling to all the extensive areas would be cost prohibitive. What were the alternatives? As their supplier they asked us and we suggested that wireless technology could be the answer and recommended a survey be undertaken to assess the viability and cost.
The results from the one day engineering survey showed not only that a wireless network was viable, but also that the solution was well with in budget. The wireless network took less than five days to install with very little disruption to the pupils or staff. Christ College now have internet access throughout the whole school and grounds enabling staff and pupils to interact with the school network and internet.

"The most exciting parts of the network are the extra benefits we now get. We are reaping the benefits of pupils and staff being able to work in their 'natural environment' and any part of the school buildings or grounds!"
He also went on to say ...
"We have found that the number of students making use of study periods has increased as a direct result of the introduction of the wireless network. We are finding that it is no longer being treated as the ubiquitous 'free period' as students realise they can complete their work in familiar surroundings. The wireless network has added a whole new dimension to the way we can work. We are now working more efficiently by using the available technology. It may may be a cliche but it really has allowed us to work smarter."
